Pupil Voice
At Ravensbourne we now have a Student Council. The group meets regularly and has input to events and special days throughout the school.
Our pupils are at the centre of everything we do and their voice is actively encouraged, valued and respected. Many of our pupils are pre-verbal or have significant communication difficulties. Staff use a range of strategies to ensure every pupils’ voice is heard including signing, PECs, gestures, eye pointing, body language, switches, AAC devices and verbal communication ranging from sounds to the spoken word.
Staff always inform pupils of what will be happening next and are skilled at interpreting their responses and interactions.

Two of our wonderful learners Leila and Ciaran have received their Jack Petchey Award this Month. This follows the sad news the Jack Petchey himself passed away in June. He was a tremendous advocate for all young people, and he leaves a thriving charity that to date has shared millions of pounds with schools’ colleges and education centres across the capital to promote self esteem and achievements of teenagers.
