Helping us to help each other
We want everyone involved.
Carlette held her first open Coffee Morning
“Our first coffee morning since the pandemic was off to a great start
It was such a success and very well attended. Thank you very much to all the parents/carers
who came along, I really enjoyed meeting you all and sharing ideas with you. I was delighted
to see how you were all open, honest and helped one another out, whether it was through
your advise or just sharing your story with us. Some of the comments said about the day were
“It felt like a family” another said “It was good to get some ideas from the other parents” and
Another said “ When is the next one?”
It is important for us as a school to support our learners and their parents/carers as much as we can,
to continue working in partnership and maintaining a positive relationship. I have heard
some of your concerns and going forward.
I would like to invite various specialists from other departments
to come and have a chat with yourselves and maybe answer some of your questions.
We will be holding a coffee morning once every half term and so if you are free,
please do come along. If you have any ideas please feel free to call or
send me an email as we are always open to suggestions.”
Paining and Decorating
Thank you to parents who joined us to help decorate parts of the school after the heating installation. We appreciate the
effort and time that you spared on the hottest days of the year. Thank you Nicola, Kevin and Mark, hopefully you enjoyed yourselves and had a chance to meet and chat over lunch.
Thank you also to Dominic out IT Strategic Lead who also gave up some days off to held decorate.
We have raised nearly £8,000 to help fund an outdoor sensory tunnel
Thank you to everyone who has donated so generously and thank you especially to the Grange family who decorated their house for Christmas and brought in the donations.
We are now developing our outdoor sensory tunnel. We have learners with severe learning needs and many are non-verbal and have limited mobility.
Our current tunnel is really basic and learners are not using it as much as we would like.
The sensory tunnel will really benefit our learners as we can display different sensory materials. We are hoping to have different textures displayed, for those who want to use their hands to touch. Different lights displayed, so they can look around at the different colour lights using natural sunlight. For those who like to listen to sounds, we are hoping to have different sounds available and for our smell sense, we would love to have different plants for the learners to smell. The tunnel will be wheelchair friendly, so all learners can access the available features.
We are expanding the project thanks to the fantastic total raised, including improvements to other outside spaces too.
