M25 Junction Works

The junction of the A12 and the M25 has taken a lot of work to improve by National Highways and other companies including The Graham Group.

National Highways have a Social Value Fund which grants funding up to £10,000 for project in the vicinity to major road works that they are completing.

We put in a bid for our Sensory Garden and were lucky enough to win funding of £7376.90 to pay for improvements and equipment  to the Sensory Garden area at the back of Adepitan and Reeve.

Thank you to the Social Value Fund at National Highways.

National Highways staff visited the school in February as we were putting together the project and following their funding award.

Whilst here it was suggested that they might volunteer some time to help kick start the project.   It was decided one day in the Easter Holidays would be ideal.

Initially we thought 5 or 6 people might arrive but on the day 10 willing volunteers arrived.  They were dressed for the weather as it rained heavily until 10am but that did not deter anyone.   A skip was filled with the cleared foliage including some very stubborn roots.   Lunch was well received and drinks welcomed as the temperature rose.  The area is now clear of unsuitable shrubs and overhanging ivy.   We never imagined how big the area was so will be able to transform it soon.

We even found a pretty climbing clematis which we did not know was there!

Lunch was a chance for everyone to learn a little more about the school and how their efforts will help to change the day for some of our students.

Thank you to National Highways and The Graham Group for their help clearing the space, we appreciate all of your hard work.
