Academy Council Members:

Dr Markos Koumaditis (Chair, Trust-appointed Governor and Diversity & Inclusion Lead for the Academy Council): Markos is the HR Director at the House of Commons and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), with particular expertise on culture change and transformation, diversity and inclusion. Over the last 15 years, Markos has worked in partnership with boards and executive teams in higher education, public and private sector to deliver increased productivity through organisational design, workforce planning and digital transformation. He started his career in higher education as a lecturer, having completed a PhD in modern European history at Kings College London. He is a qualified Executive Coach (ILM Level 7) and an LGBT Leader with a national profile. He is a graduate of the first cohort of McKinsey Senior Leadership Master Class for senior LGBT Executives (2015) and of the Stonewall Leadership Programme – Ashridge Business School (2013).

Shelley Eugene (Trust-appointed Governor, Safeguarding Lead for the Academy Council): Shelley is a true Londoner and was born and raised in the big smoke, where she still lives. She has two daughters in secondary school, who work hard at keeping her constantly on her toes. Her passion is closing the inequality gap and improving outcomes amongst the most vulnerable. She works as a public health professional in the NHS and is also currently undertaking a MSc. She truly values the importance of education and believes that we never stop learning – whether young or old! She is at her happiest when lugging her backpack and children on a world adventure. When she is not globe-trotting, studying or working, she is usually ‘attempting’ a new home improvement project.

Stuart Marshall (Trust-appointed Governor and Finance Lead for the Academy Council): Stuart is the Group Sales Manager for a leading Loss Assessing Company, who are currently the fastest growing assessors in the UK and won Loss Assessors 2020. He runs the UK sales team, which involves lots of travelling. He was previously the Chair of Governors at the Gateway Academy in Thurrock, where he oversaw a successful Ofsted visit which resulted in the academy gaining a higher Ofsted rating and having very positive feedback.

Asim Mughal (Hornbeam Parent Rep and Health & Safety Lead for the Academy Council): Asim has lived in Waltham Forest his whole life and is married with three children. His son has attended Hornbeam since 2009. Asim works as a team leader for an international food manufacturer and distributor called Grace Foods UK.

Anesta Philaretou (Ravensbourne Parent Rep): Anesta is a long term foster parent, whose foster son attends Ravensbourne. She was born and raised in South Africa, and lived in Cyprus for 10 years before moving to the UK. Throughout her adult life, she has volunteered and worked with children in different capacities and settings.

Nadine Jones (Ravensbourne Staff Rep): Nadine is the phase leader of early years and class teacher at Ravensbourne. Having worked in special schools, she recognises how important it is that children have every opportunity to gain knowledge, skills and solid foundations to enable them to achieve regardless of their needs and the significance of providing a safe, caring, supportive and effective environment that brings opportunities for each child to make those essential steps in life.

Gosia Klosek (Hornbeam Staff Rep): Gosia is the Deputy Headteacher at Hornbeam.

Gillian Walsh (Forest Approach Staff Rep): Gillian is a teacher and secondary phase leader at Forest Approach.
